During a safari, we spend time over lunch reviewing guests’ images, chatting about composition, camera settings and various techniques. With those who wish to, we also start doing some editing work on the computer. In this way, I have a chance to see how my guests are getting on, help them with areas that are more difficult and ensure they get the best from the trip.
However, I don’t get to see all the guests’ images and I rarely get to see the whole portfolio until months afterwards! So it’s always a pleasure, once the season is over, to get in touch again and have a look through their final selection of images.
Vicky Fry travelled with me again this year, hers and Roger’s 4th trip with me in Luangwa! She sent me a selection of her favourite images from our Double Luangwa trip in October. Vicky has always had a great eye for different opportunities, and will often be found leaning over the side of the vehicle, photographing a pattern, texture or abstract that she has seen, and totally ignoring the lions/hyaenas/elephants on the other side of the vehicle. I applaud that innovation, and I am sure you’ll see it coming through in her shots.
