Due to unfortunate illness, I have a last-minute place on a safari to Lion Camp & Anabezi Camp later this year. These camps are sited in two of the best wildlife areas in Zambia. Lion Camp’s privileged position on the edge of a grassy dambo in the private and game-rich northern sector of the South Luangwa National Park ensures us 4 days of great viewing of all the headline species of the area. The timing of the tour, at the end of September when waterholes are dry, condenses the game along the river and remaining lagoons. Following the Luangwa Valley with 4 nights in the central part of Lower Zambezi National Park offers a complementary view of Zambia’s other big river valley, including spectacular mature forests, very visible game and exciting boat-based safaris to spend time with elephant bulls as they move between the islands.
